An interesting introduction to the world of VoIP. If you are looking for options regarding your phone system, then you will probably find that this video gives you some useful background. Not deep and technical, but that can be a good thing.

From the description on the video page at youtube:

Speaking to an audience of independent distributors (telecom agents, channel partners & solution providers) author & educator Steven Sheppard gives a detailed 40-minute analysis of the pros & cons small businesses owners and decision makers need to be properly consulted about before they can “buy into” and benefit from adapting any VoIP solution or migration strategy into their businesses communication and technology suites.

The presentation was delivered in August 2006 at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo and was sponsored by XO communications. The video was recorded and edited by Telecom Association.

In Japan I would recommend the company I work for: Denphone for an inexpensive and reliable phone system.

Long time since I posted here. Things have been busy as ever:)

A couple of weeks ago I started a new job, working for a VoIP Solutions company here in Tokyo. The company is called Denphone and it is based just down the road from where I live, in Azabujuban, Tokyo.

It is a very interesting company offering a wide range of Linux and open source IP telephony solutions, particularly using the Asterisk PBX software package. We also sell a lot of IP telephones, including Polycom, Cisco, snom, and Grandstream models. You can see some of them at the Denphone webshop. So I have had a lot of new products to get myself familiar with.

I will be putting up more links in the future, particularly related to VoIP and IP telephony especially Asterisk in the near future.
